Notes on Book Binding- Gluing White Silky FabricHere is a lesson on gluing white silky fabric:
#1- color the material to which the fabric will be attached the same color as the fabric. (If you don't it will show through.)
#2-Tested contact cement, spray glue, max tacky adhesive, Aleen's super
fabric adhesive, and tacky glue to see which worked best.
Contact cement is wonderfully sticky but is terribly yellow- soaks through.
Spray glue, okay for very light jobs but not for working fabric around raised surfaces, dries too quick to work rigorously and soaks through.
Max Tacky glue, soaked through and didn't seem more tacky than regular tacky glue; does dry transparent (not good for this project).
Aleen's super fabric adhesive: toxic (proven to cause cancer if you breath it- I wore a mask and created LOTS of ventilation), takes forever to cure, couldn't tack
fabric around snowflake very well. I think it soaked through.
